i dont know if i overreacted about the conversation we had on tues.i'll know soon enough though. hahaa sorry sop and desmond for going all ballistic and thanks for letting me rant. i guess the one good thing that came out of all of this is that you showed me that everything is within our reach if we want it badly enough. Cliched as it may sound, you inspire me.
Anyway. yesterday the ntu/fcbc cell people came to my place. Just when they were settling down in my living room, someone switched on the main light and then suddenly there was this burning smell. We looked up and to everyone's horror, there was smoke emitting from the lamp shade. It was a hanging light and everyone was sitting under it so it was quite a scary sight to behold. So anyway, when my parents came back, i told them about it. Upon investigation, we found the cause! The burning smell came from a bug that somehow landed inside the lamp and it was being roasted alive. GROSSNESS. the smell still lingers whenever we switch on the light. i must say eau de barbequed bug does NOT smell so hot (i dont mean that literally)
Today i got the day off from work!wooot. The road show was cancelled for thurs and friday! No more standing. No more being greeted by the pinched,uptight looks of passerbys in corporate wear.No more having to ward off strange old men. hahaa waisan's face was priceless when we received the news. Her facade of indifference was so convincing in front of the organisers, but the moment they went away, her elated expression mirrored what we were all feeling. The pay's good but standing for 6 and a half hours per day is no easy feat, and also not easy on the feet! i was wearing dam uncomfortable pointed covered shoes on the first day. The organizers were quite nice and became alot more lenient over foot wear as the days progressed. Learnt my lesson and switched to my adidas sneakers the next, even though it didnt match the outfit at all. Oh speaking of outfits, we had to wear this white top and lime green skirt which made us really conspicous. Embarrasingly during the 2 days i was working at raffles place, i met people i knew, from former colleagues at AIA, to ac cross juniors.
While i was standing at different locations of raffles place distributing flyers for the road show, i was reminded of the AIA days. Working there for close to 3 months has made Raffles place synonymous with my AIA experience. We've visited practically every (cheap but good) food places over there. Caltex house, the multi-storey hawker, Golden shoe, China square, Lau pa sat, and ocassionally Carl's junior. Even though the job scope was standard admin stuff, i had alot more fun there that ive had working elsewhere. And of course my partner-in-crime and favorite bimbo queenie made work life alot more entertaining! it was quite funny how our group gradually switched from channel 8 to channel 5 as the language of choice with the two of us around. hahaa and its amazing how boredom can inspire us to do such retarded things: The burn book, our questionnaires, coded names for everyone (HG,Chubs,Shrek the evil ogress), lengthy toilet breaks, our song of the day,photowhoring, the mail room, hitting on younger guys, after-work shopping sprees. Our office was quite scandalous also, what with the d&d&boyfriend triangle, and the king&queen! i remember long long phone conversations with derick, having to be his aunt agony, but well,i guess he also ended up being my uncle agony in the end heh. There were quite a number of temps working together, and even though some were not always on the same wavelength (hahaa qb you'll know who im referring to!), we still had good fun somehow. On the last day queen b and i took many photos wanting to compile a collage of time there, but we never got around to doing it. haha so,some pics from way back.
